We were approached by JKC Maintenance to produce a bespoke rug for Aston Villa's soon-to-open retro club shop, in time for the club's European campaign.
The design was inspired by a programme from 1948, and the size required was 161 x 245 cm. Due to the complexity of the design, we recommended a high-quality hand-knotted rug with over 235,000 knots per m2 to capture the intricate details and achieve a premium finish.
Since the rug was intended to be displayed in the showroom, we opted for a thin-pile 5-6 mm construction and added custom loops to the back for easy hanging. To enhance the retro aesthetic, we worked with the client to select colours using poms and incorporated dual background tones with speckled dyeing for a vintage effect.

The rug was completed within 7 weeks to meet the opening deadline and was delivered ahead of schedule, much to the client's delight.
As a passionate football fan, I found it especially exciting to work on this project. The result was a stunning, high-spec hand-knotted rug that perfectly complemented the club's 1948 retro theme and now takes pride of place in the shop.
